HR is changing and needs to change but not only as a reaction to events- it needs to lead the change otherwise it’s importance and significance may diminish. For me HR needs to step-up broaden the debate, stop navel gazing and stop becoming embroiled in endless discussions about it’s purpose, function or its lack of a place on the Board.

Similarly, I don’t know about you but I often tire of this introspective approach and the endless discussions about performance management, employee engagement, culture and HR’s place on the Board etc. I think there are equally and more important issues to address and think it is now time to adopt a broader context by looking at the impact of what we do (or should be doing) from many different and interrelated facets; business, socioeconomic, political, technological, environmental and well-being perspective.
